Yankees 11, Indians 6:
Robinson Cano broke out of his slump with a pair of home runs and Travis Hafner drove in four against his former team as visiting New York spoiled Cleveland’s home opener.

Hiroki Kuroda (1-1) allowed three runs and five hits while walking four and striking out six in 5 1/3 innings to earn the win for the Yankees, who have won back-to-back games for the first time this season.

Hafner, who spent the previous 10 seasons with the Indians before signing with New York as a free agent in the off-season, sent a three-run homer out to center in the first inning and put the Yankees on top for good with an RBI single in the third. That damage all came off Cleveland starter Ubaldo Jimenez (0-1), who was knocked around for seven runs in 4 1/3 frames.

Cano went 3-for-23 without an extra-base hit in the first six games but started to find his power stroke with a double to left-center in the third. He got a first-pitch changeup from Jimenez leading off the fifth and lined it over the wall in left-center, and took a curveball from Matt Albers out to right-center in the sixth.

Cleveland rallied for three runs in the first to tie the score but could not keep pace with the Yankees offense. Mike Aviles clubbed a two-run homer and Michael Bourn scored on a wild pitch in the eighth to provide the final margin.

GAME NOTEBOOK: Hafner got a standing ovation from the Cleveland fans during pregame introductions. … Indians C Carlos Santana, who went 5-for-5 in a win over the Tampa Bay Rays on Sunday, got crossed up with closer Chris Perez in the ninth inning and was hit on the wrist by a fastball. He was replaced behind the plate by Lou Marson. … Cleveland manager Terry Francona, who is in his first season with the club, got lost on his way to the ball park in the morning. He was walking from two blocks away.
