Indians 7, White Sox 2: Nick Swisher hit a two-run homer and Michael Brantley had three hits for the third straight game as host Cleveland maintained its wild card position with its 14th straight victory over Chicago.

Rookie Danny Salazar (2-3) struck out eight while allowing two runs and six hits in 5 1/3 innings for the Indians, who lead Texas by one game for the final American League wild card spot following their sixth straight victory. Asdrubal Cabrera drove in two runs while Brantley and Drew Stubbs each knocked in one.

Avisail Garcia homered for the White Sox, who lost for the 20th time in their last 26 games and set a team record for most road losses in a season (55). Dylan Axelrod (4-11) yielded five runs (three earned) and eight hits in 5 2/3 innings.

After Garcia hit Salazar's first pitch of the second inning deep into the seats in left-center, the Indians scored twice in the bottom half. Lonnie Chisenhall reached on a fielder's choice, advanced to second on a wild pitch and scored on third baseman Marcus Semien's fielding error before Brantley delivered an RBI single.

Brantley doubled with one out in the fifth inning and Swisher followed with a blast into the Indians' bullpen in center - his 21st. Chicago's Dayan Viciedo delivered a run-scoring single to make it 4-2 in the sixth, but Bryan Shaw struck out Jordan Danks and Semien with runners at first and second to prevent further damage.
