The Giants jumped on Padres starter Clayton Richard (7-11) for four first-inning runs and put the game away on Posey’s three-run homer in the fifth.

Posey had a run-scoring single in the first to drive in the initial run. Angel Pagan’s bases-loaded walk, Joaquin Arias’ fielder’s choice and Brandon Crawford’s RBI single pushed the across the inning’s other runs.

San Diego got on the board in the fourth on a sacrifice fly by Yonder Alonso. Richard allowed seven runs and nine hits in five innings.
