Five relievers worked a scoreless ninth, with Anthony Bass getting the final out for his first save.

The Padres grabbed a first-inning lead on Guzman’s two-out, three-run homer off rookie Tyler Skaggs (1-3), who allowed four runs over five frames.

San Diego, which won the season series against the Diamondbacks with a 9-3 record, took a 6-2 lead in the sixth on RBI doubles by Chris Denorfia and Chase Headley.

Arizona scored twice in the sixth inning on run-scoring singles by Paul Goldschmidt and Chris Johnson and pulled closer in the seventh on Adam Eaton’s first career homer off Brad Brach.
