Pirates 4, Astros 3: Rod Barajas singled home Andrew McCutchen with two outs in the eighth inning as visiting Pittsburgh handed Houston its 12th consecutive loss.

The Astros led 3-2 after five innings, only to see the Pirates rally to win their fourth in a row. McCutchen walked to start the eighth and Garrett Jones followed with a single. After reliever Francisco Rodriguez got two outs, Barajas came through with the game-winning hit.

Chris Resop (1-3) got the win in relief for Pittsburgh. Former Houston pitcher Wandy Rodriguez made his Pittsburgh debut after being traded from the Astros this week. Rodriguez allowed six hits and three runs with five walks and five strikeouts in six innings.

Chuckie Fisk (0-1) took the loss in relief for Houston, which has dropped 16 of its last 17 games.

Alex Presley opened the scoring for Pittsburgh in the first with his eighth homer of the season off Houston starter Armando Galarraga. The Astros tied it in the second when Carlos Corporan’s single to short left field scored Justin Maxwell to tie the game at 1-1.

Pittsburgh surged ahead on Neil Walker’s 10th homer of the season in the fourth. Maxwell tripled home Jose Altuve and Matt Downs in the fifth to push the Astros ahead 3-2, but Houston gave back the lead in the sixth when Jones scored on Corporan’s passed ball to tie the game at 3-3.

Pittsburgh’s Jason Grilli pitched the ninth for his second save because Joel Hanrahan, who leads the majors with 31 saves, was unavailable after earning saves in the last three nights.

GAME NOTEBOOK: Galarraga gave up three runs (two earned) in five innings, allowing five hits with one walk and two strikeouts. … Jones and Clint Barmes each finished 2-for-4 for the Pirates. … Corporan went 2-for-4, raising his average to .409 in nine games. … Houston OF Jordan Schafer came in as a pinch-runner in the eighth and stole his 25th base.
