Cardinals 10, Cubs 3:
Matt Carpenter went 4-for-4 with a homer and five RBIs as host St. Louis completed its celebratory weekend by taking the rubber game from rival Chicago.

Yadier Molina added a three-run homer and Carlos Beltran scored three runs for the Cardinals, who raised the World Series banner on Friday, handed out the championship rings on Saturday and honored Jackie Robinson along with the rest of the league on Sunday.

Carpenter, who is getting the bulk of the playing time at first base while Lance Berkman nurses a minor calf strain, made the most of his opportunity Sunday by driving in the first run with an RBI single in the second and putting the game out of reach with a two-run homer to center in the fifth.

He added a two-run triple in the seventh to cap the scoring barrage for St. Louis.

Molina, who drove in a pair of runs in Saturday’s win, took a 3-2 pitch from Paul Maholm (0-2) just over the wall in left in the third inning for his third home run.

That was plenty of support for Jake Westbrook (2-0), who allowed two runs - one earned - and four hits while walking one and striking out a pair in seven innings. The veteran sinkerballer recorded 15 groundouts.

Maholm was not quite as sharp, getting pounded for six runs and six hits in four frames.

GAME NOTEBOOK: Starlin Castro and Reed Johnson each drove in a run for the Cubs. … Cardinals 3B David Freese (finger) sat out for the second straight day. … Chicago OF David DeJesus, who has been serving as the leadoff hitter, got the day off, with Johnson moving into the top spot in the lineup.
