Cardinals 11, Royals 8:
Carlos Beltran and Yadier Molina homered as visiting St. Louis swept the I-70 series and put together their first three-game win streak in a month.

The Cards scored 30 runs in the series. David Freese’s RBI single in the seventh off Tim Collins (4-2) broke a 6-6 tie, and St. Louis plated four in the eighth to break it open.

Beltran’s three-run homer in the first was his 20th, tying him with Ryan Braun for the NL lead. Beltran had eight RBIs in the series, his first in the city where his major-league career began.

Mike Moustakas homered twice and Jeff Francoeur and Billy Butler had one each for the Royals, who had won seven of nine until the Cards came to town.

Cards starter Lance Lynn and Royals starter Jonathan Sanchez each gave up six earned runs without getting out of the sixth inning. Victor Marte (1-1) earned the win in relief.

GAME NOTEBOOK: It was 96 degrees at first pitch. … Cardinals OF Matt Holliday, who came in batting .552 over his previous seven games, doubled, walked twice, scored twice and drove in two runs.
