Phillies 4, Reds 2: Jimmy Rollins hit a three-run homer and Tyler Cloyd went seven sensational innings for his first major-league win as visiting Philadelphia won the opener of a three-game series.

Rollins came up with runners on first and second and nobody out in the fifth inning and pulled a Johnny Cueto fastball into the fourth row of seats in right field for his 17th home run of the season.

Cloyd (1-1) took care of the rest, limiting the National League Central-leading Reds to just four hits while striking out nine in his second major-league start. Justin De Fratus worked a scoreless eighth inning and Phillippe Aumont overcame a Jay Bruce RBI single in the ninth to earn his first major-league save.

Cueto (17-7) was tagged for four runs on eight hits over seven frames, striking out five without a walk. It was just his second loss since July 3.

Cincinnati seized the lead in the second inning on Bruce's 30th home run of the season, a solo blast over the right-field wall. That was all the offense the Reds could muster as their lead atop the National League Central was reduced to 81/2 games over St. Louis.

John Mayberry added a solo blast in the sixth inning while Kevin Frandsen and Juan Pierre had two hits apiece for the Phillies, who have won four of five.

GAME NOTEBOOK: Bruce reached the 30-homer plateau for the second straight season. ... Cloyd added his first career major-league hit, a single up the middle in the fifth inning that preceded Rollins' homer. ... The Phillies have won six consecutive games at Great American Ball Park dating back to last season. ... Cueto fell for only the second time in 12 home starts in 2012.
