Nationals 10, Marlins 7:
Danny Espinosa hit a three-run homer to cap a six-run rally in the eighth inning and Adam LaRoche hit a pair of home runs as host Washington blasted its way past Miami.

Washington trailed 6-4 entering the eighth when the Marlins brought left-hander Mike Dunn (0-1) in to face the heart of the order. Dunn allowed LaRoche to reach on his own error with one out and walked Jayson Werth before striking out Kurt Suzuki for the second out.

Steve Lombardozzi singled in LaRoche to cut it to 6-5 and Tyler Moore delivered a pinch-hit single to tie it. Espinosa followed and blasted a 2-2 breaking ball into the Miami bullpen to give the Nationals the lead. Bryce Harper made it back-to-back homers before Dunn was pulled.

Ryan Mattheus (4-1) got credit for the win in relief as the offense bailed out starter Jordan Zimmermann.

Named the National League Pitcher of the Month for July, Zimmermann had not allowed more than one earned run in any of his last seven starts before Saturday. Miami ended that streak quickly with two runs in the second and another in the third as Zimmermann was reached for five runs (four earned) and seven hits in five innings.

Washington pulled within 5-4 in the sixth when LaRoche hit his second solo home run of the game - his 23rd of the season - but the Marlins pushed it back to 6-4 in the seventh when Jose Reyes scampered in from third on a squeeze bunt.

Reyes doubled in the third to extend his career-best hitting streak to 23 games and scored three times.

Mark Buehrle allowed four runs in six innings and Carlos Lee recorded two RBIs for Miami, which has dropped 13 of 18.

GAME NOTEBOOK:
Reyes is tied for the longest hitting streak in the majors this season. The Marlins’ franchise record is 35, set by Luis Castillo in 2002. … Miami OF/INF Emilio Boniface (thumb) was placed on the disabled list. There is a chance he could return this season. … Suzuki was making his debut for the Nationals after being acquired from the Oakland Athletics on Friday. He went 0-for-3. … LaRoche has four home runs and seven RBIs in the last four games.
