Marlins 5, Nationals 3: Hanley Ramirez hit a tiebreaking two-run homer as Miami salvaged a four-game series split at home against National League East-leading Washington.

A solo home run by Ryan Zimmerman gave the Nationals a 2-0 lead in the third, but Miami answered back with four runs in the bottom of the frame against Edwin Jackson (5-5). Carlos Lee singled home a pair of runs to tie the game before Ramirez deposited a two-out shot into the center-field seats.

Marlins starter Carlos Zambrano (5-7), who singled and scored in the third inning, walked four and gave up eight hits over six innings but got plenty of help from a Miami defense that turned four double plays.

Mike Dunn, the last of five Miami relievers, gave up a two-out single to Bryce Harper in the ninth inning and walked Zimmerman to bring the go-ahead run to the plate. He then struck out Adam LaRoche to kill the comeback bid and record his first major-league save.

Michael Morse’s RBI single in the sixth inning cut the Marlins’ lead to 4-3, but the home team restored its two-run cushion in the seventh on Emilio Bonifacio’s sacrifice.

Jackson went five innings, allowing four runs on six hits. He struck out one and walked two.

Zimmerman, Morse and Danny Espinosa each had three of Washington’s 11 hits.

GAME NOTEBOOK: Washington is 2 1/2 games ahead of Atlanta in the NL East. Miami is nine games back. ... Zimmerman already has three three-hit games this month, as many as he had in the first three months of the season. He has also hit five of his 10 home runs in July. ... The Nationals are hopeful that SS Ian Desmond (strained oblique) can return to the lineup Tuesday against New York.
