Pirates 2, Braves 1:
Starling Marte homered and tripled, and Jeff Locke earned his first major league victory as host Pittsburgh ended Atlanta’s divisional title hopes.

The Braves managed only two hits and will settle for the National League’s top wild card spot after Washington clinched the NL East with Atlanta’s loss. Locke (1-3) gave up one run on two hits with six strikeouts over six innings.

After the Braves took an early lead on Jason Heyward’s RBI single in the third, the Pirates tied the game in the fifth when Chase d'Arnaud’s groundout scored Marte, who tripled to lead off the inning. The Pirates pulled ahead on Marte’s leadoff homer in the fifth off Paul Maholm (13-11).

Jared Hughes worked around one baserunner in the ninth for his second career save for Pittsburgh, whose 78 wins this season are the team's most since 1999.

Atlanta dropped to 12-4 over its last 16 games, while Pittsburgh won for only the sixth time in its last 25 games.
