Yankees 6, Red Sox 4:
Nick Swisher homered from both sides of the plate and New York totaled five blasts to outslug visiting Boston.

Derek Jeter, Curtis Granderson and Russell Martin each added a solo homer for the Yankees, who have won seven of 10 against the rival Red Sox this season.

Phil Hughes (12-10) pitched seven solid innings to earn the win, allowing four runs (none earned) and four hits while striking out four and walking one. David Robertson pitched the eighth and Rafael Soriano worked a scoreless ninth for his 30th save.

New York grabbed a 1-0 lead on Swisher’s 17th home run in the first and used the short porch in right field to push it to 3-0 in the second. Curtis Granderson pulled his 31st blast into the lower level seats in right and Russell Martin followed with a line drive down the line that found the second row for his 13th.

The Red Sox battled back to take the lead with a four-run third, benefiting from an error by Hughes that led to the first run before Dustin Pedroia put the visitors on top with a three-run blast - his 10th.

The Yankees’ fourth home run of the night - a solo blast from Jeter - knotted it at 4-4 in the fifth and New York grabbed the lead back without the long ball in the sixth when Jayson Nix singled in the go-ahead run.

That closed the book on Boston starter Franklin Morales (3-4), who was charged with five runs on six hits in 5 1/3 innings. The left-hander has allowed 11 home runs on the season, with the Yankees accounting for eight of those.

Swisher made it a 6-4 gap in the seventh, connecting from the left side of the plate off Clayton Mortensen on a 3-0 fastball and putting it in the bullpen in right-center.
