Curtis Granderson belted two homers to take over the major league lead and the visiting New York Yankees used a barrage of long balls to earn a doubleheader split with an 8-3 victory over the Baltimore Orioles on Sunday.

Robinson Cano, Nick Swisher and Andruw Jones clubbed back-to-back-to-back homers in the sixth inning as the Yankees snapped Baltimore's six-game winning streak.

Ivan Nova (14-4) went seven-plus innings to win his sixth straight start and improve to 10-0 in his last 11 decisions to help New York get back within two games of division-leading Boston in the American League East.

Granderson's three-run homer off Orioles starter Brian Matusz gave him 38 homers, moving him ahead of Toronto's Jose Bautista for the major league lead. He also leads baseball with 107 RBIs.

Matusz (1-7) lost his seventh consecutive start and has allowed at least six runs for the fifth straight outing. He gave up three more homers and has surrendered 14 in 41 2/3 innings.

Swisher's homer was his fifth in six games and gave him 20 for the seventh consecutive season. It marked the first time the Yankees went back-to-back-to-back since May 20, 2009, also against the Orioles.

Adam Jones drove in two runs and J.J. Hardy extended his hitting streak to 11 games for Baltimore.
