Allen Craig homered among four RBIs and Skip Schumaker drove in three as the visiting St. Louis Cardinals overcame a five-run deficit and pulled even in the National League wild card race with a 13-6 victory over the Houston Astros on Tuesday.

Lance Berkman had three hits and Ryan Theriot drove in a pair for the Cardinals (89-72), who are now tied with the Atlanta Braves (89-72) with one game remaining. The Braves lost to the Philadelphia Phillies earlier Tuesday.

Should the Cardinals and Atlanta remained tied after Wednesday’s regular-season finale, a one-game playoff would take place in St. Louis on Thursday night at 8:07 p.m. ET.

Jake Westbrook did not have it at the beginning of the game, putting the Cardinals in a 5-0 hole after three innings. But the St. Louis offense woke up in the fourth, tagging rookie Henry Sosa for five runs to tie it. Schumaker’s three-run double highlighted the rally.

The Astros went ahead with a run in the fifth but St. Louis fought back with four more runs in the seventh. Craig doubled in the tying run and Theriot put the Cardinals ahead to stay with a two-run triple to the gap in right-center.

Craig’s three-run homer in the eighth put it away.
