The Arizona Diamondbacks put it away early on Thursday when Stephen Drew highlighted a seven-run first inning with a grand slam to spark an 11-2 victory over the visiting Chicago Cubs.

Miguel Montero added a two-run blast and Chris Young drove in a pair for the Diamondbacks, who have won three of four to start their 10-game homestand.

Ryan Dempster (1-3) just did not have it for the Cubs, allowing the first three batters of the game to reach on a double, a walk and a hit-by-pitch before serving up Drew’s first career grand slam on an 0-2 pitch.

Dempster walked the bases loaded again in the inning and allowed an RBI single to the pitcher, Barry Enright, and a two-run single to Young before being lifted. Justin Berg came on and got the last two outs of the first to escape further damage.

Dempster ended up recording only one out while getting charged with seven runs on four hits and four walks.

Enright (1-2) went 6 2/3 innings for Arizona, allowing two runs and five hits to earn the win.
