Jimmy Rollins capped a seven-run third inning with a three-run homer as the Philadelphia Phillies blasted the Cincinnati Reds, 10-3, on Monday.

Placido Polanco added a two-run shot and John Mayberry Jr. singled in a pair for the Phillies, who had totaled 15 runs in the previous nine games.

Philadelphia’s struggling offense wasted no time getting back into a groove against Bronson Arroyo, as Polanco got them started with his homer in the first. Arroyo got through the second unscathed but really broke down in the third.

Raul Ibanez, Mayberry and Philadelphia starter Cole Hamels each recorded RBI singles in front of Rollins, who ended Arroyo’s night when he took a 3-2 pitch over the wall in right for his third homer. Arroyo (3-5) was charged with nine runs on 10 hits in 2 2/3 innings.

That was plenty of support for Hamels (6-2), who ended up allowing three runs and five hits in six innings to match Roy Halladay for the team lead with six wins.

Arroyo’s tough outing was just the latest hit for the Cincinnati pitching staff, after Opening Day starter Edinson Volquez and his 6.35 ERA was sent to the minors earlier on Monday.
