Asdrubal Cabrera drove in four runs, including a three-run homer in the sixth inning, leading the Cleveland Indians to an 8-4 victory over Boston on Wednesday night, keeping the Red Sox winless on the season.

The Red Sox, a popular pick to win the World Series, fell to 0-5, their worst start since opening the 1996 season with an 0-6 record. Boston's offense struggled again with the exception of Adrian Gonzalez's two-run homer in the seventh.

Shin-Soo Choo and Matt LaPorta also homered for Cleveland, which has won three straight after losing its first two games.

Rafael Perez (1-0) pitched 1 1/3 scoreless innings for the win. Daisuke Matsuzaka (0-1) allowed three runs in five innings to take the loss for Boston.

Choo's two-run home run gave the Indians a first-inning lead. Boston tied the game in the second on Marco Scutaro's RBI single and Jacoby Ellsbury's run-scoring fielder's choice. Cleveland went ahead for good in the bottom of the inning on Cabrera's RBI single.

Dennys Reyes relieved Matsuzaka to start the sixth, but hit two batters and walked a man. He threw one strike in 12 pitches and was pulled for Dan Wheeler. Michael Brantley hit into a run-scoring forceout, which was followed by Cabrera's home run.

Gonzalez's home run, his first in the American League, came off Frank Herrmann in the seventh. LaPorta hit a solo shot off Tim Wakefield in the eighth.

Cleveland starter Mitch Talbot allowed two runs and five hits in 4 1/3 innings.
