The San Francisco Giants ended Philadelphia’s two-year reign in the National League, beating the Phillies 3-2 on Saturday at Citizens Bank Park to advance to the World Series for the first time since 2002.

Juan Uribe's solo home run in the eighth inning off Ryan Madson gave the Giants their first lead of the game, and closer Brian Wilson made it stand up despite inheriting two runners when he entered with one out in the eighth.

Giants ace Tim Lincecum started the eighth inning in relief, but he allowed one-out singles to Shane Victorino and Raul Ibanez.

Wilson took over and got Carlos Ruiz to line into a double play, then worked around a pair of walks in the ninth to finish off his third save of the series and fifth of the postseason. Wilson struck out Ryan Howard with runners and first and second to end it.

The Phillies broke on top with two runs in the first against Giants starter Jonathan Sanchez, scoring on Chase Utley's RBI double and Jayson Werth's sacrifice fly.

Sanchez didn't make it out of the third inning, leaving with no outs in the inning after hitting Utley with a pitch and prompting both benches to clear. Sanchez allowed two runs on three hits and walked two.

The Giants tied it with two runs in the third against Game 2 winner Roy Oswalt, scoring on Aubrey Huff's RBI single and Howard's error, which allowed Buster Posey to reach.

Three days after taking the loss in relief in Game 4, Oswalt gave the Phillies a solid outing. He allowed two runs - one earned - on nine hits over six innings, striking out five.

San Francisco will host the Texas Rangers in Game 1 of the World Series on Wednesday night.
