Roy Oswalt tossed seven strong innings in his home debut and Raul Ibanez extended his hitting streak to a career-best 18 consecutive games with an RBI double as the Philadelphia Phillies recorded a 2-0 triumph over the Los Angeles Dodgers on Wednesday.

Placido Polanco scored on rookie Domonic Brown's groundout for Philadelphia, which remained 2.5 games back of NL East-leading Atlanta.

The Phillies improved to 20-5 in their last 25 home outings with the victory, but lost Ross Gload in the process. The backup first baseman, who is playing in place of injured All-Star slugger Ryan Howard (ankle), suffered a right groin strain while legging out a double in the sixth inning.

Acquired from the Houston Astros for J.A. Happ and a pair of prospects, Oswalt (7-13) allowed just five hits and struck out five to pick up his first win as a member of the Phillies.

Ryan Madson worked around a leadoff double in the eighth inning and Brad Lidge retired the side in order in the ninth for his 15th save of the season.

Scott Podsednik had three hits for Los Angeles, which amassed 15 runs and 18 hits in the series opener on Tuesday. The Dodgers managed just six hits in this one.

Chad Billingsley (9-7) failed in his bid to secure his fourth consecutive double-digit win season. The 26-year-old right-hander permitted two runs and five hits in six innings.
