Clayton Richard tossed six shutout innings and the San Diego Padres continued their home dominance over the Arizona Diamondbacks with a 5-0 victory on Tuesday night.

Will Venable and Chris Denorfia each belted two-run home runs to help San Diego to its eighth consecutive win against their National League West counterparts at Petco Park.

Richard (12-5) scattered three hits, struck out eight and walked five to improve to 5-0 over his past six starts. Four relievers combined to keep the shutout intact.

The Padres roughed up Arizona starter Rodrigo Lopez for five runs and didn’t look back. Venable went deep in the second for his 11th homer and Denorfia hit his ninth of the campaign in the fourth.

Miguel Tejada doubled with one out in the fifth before Ryan Ludwick singled him home for the 5-0 bulge.

Lopez (5-12) was charged with all five runs on nine hits in 4 1/3 innings.

Tejada, Venable and Adrian Gonzalez each finished with a pair of hits in the winning effort.
