Wade Davis made a successful return from the disabled list and Evan Longoria recorded three hits as the Tampa Bay Rays earned a 10-3 victory over the Los Angeles Angels on Tuesday night.

Davis (10-9) had been on the disabled list since Aug. 5 with a strained right shoulder. He threw 5 1/3 innings, allowing two runs on six hits. He had three strikeouts and two walks.

Longoria hit his 19th homer in the third and Matt Joyce homered in the sixth, chasing Ervin Santana (13-9), who took the loss. Longoria doubled in a run in the seventh for a 7-2 lead for the Rays (78-48), who kept pace with the New York Yankees atop the American League East.

The Rays roughed up Santana, who allowed six runs on eight hits in 5 1/3 innings. He had six strikeouts and three walks. Santana had won five of his last six decisions.

Tampa Bay scored four runs in the second inning, when Dan Johnson had an RBI double, John Jaso singled in two runs and Ben Zobrist hit a sacrifice fly. The Rays added three insurance runs in the ninth.

The Angels' Hideki Matsui had three hits, including an RBI ground-rule double, and scored on Bobby Wilson’s ground out. Howie Kendrick homered in the seventh.
