Jered Weaver allowed one runner to reach base in seven innings and the Los Angeles Angels scored seven times in the first two innings to cruise to a 7-0 win over the Cleveland Indians on Wednesday night.

Weaver (12-11) retired the first 11 hitters before Shin-Soo Choo's hard grounder to the right of second baseman Howie Kendrick shot through the infield and into right field. Choo is 10-for-22 lifetime against Weaver.

Weaver struck out seven, taking over the American League lead with 218, and didn't walk a batter in this one.

Thanks mostly to a lack of run support, Weaver had been winless in six starts. The Angels scored a total of five runs in his last five starts, but that wasn't an issue this time. Los Angeles scored four runs in the first and three more in the second off Jeanmar Gomez (3-4).

The Indians finished with three runners who reached base. Lou Marson walked and Michael Brantley singled in the ninth.

The Angels sent nine men to the plate in the first. The runs scored on Juan Rivera's RBI single, a bases-loaded walk to Kendrick and Hank Conger's first major league hit, a two-run single.

Torii Hunter's RBI single, Hideki Matsui's run-scoring triple and Rivera's RBI single pushed the lead to 7-0.

Gomez allowed seven runs and seven hits in three innings. The last 21 Angels hitters went down in order. Gomez retired the side in the fourth before relievers Justin Germano, Frank Herrmann and Jensen Lewis retired the last 18 hitters they faced.
