J.D. Drew had three hits and two RBIs and Josh Beckett struck out seven as the visiting Boston Red Sox rallied to a 5-3 victory over the Oakland Athletics on Sunday.

Boston trailed 3-0 after five innings before Drew doubled home two runs during a four-run sixth inning. Ryan Kalish followed with a two-run pinch-hit single to put Boston ahead.

The Red Sox added an insurance run in the eighth and Jonathan Papelbon struck out the side in the ninth for his 36th save of the season.

Beckett (5-4) gave up three runs and five hits in six innings. He walked five. Scott Atchison pitched two innings of perfect relief.

Oakland built a 3-0 lead on Jack Cust’s bases-loaded walk in the third inning and a two-run double by Mark Ellis in the fifth.

Oakland starter Dallas Braden (9-12) gave up four runs and six hits in 5 2/3 innings.
